Sochin

Greet slowly in the musubi-dachiposition.

Announce the kata: “Sochin.”

Yoi: In the hachiji-dachiposition, fists closed in front of the hips.

1 – Muso-kamae:
(1A) Advance your right foot at the same time as you lower the pelvis. Send your left fist down and raise your right fist above your head.
(1B) Lower the right arm for a descending blockage while raising the left arm for an upward blockage. Adopt a sochin-dachi rooted posture, your right arm extended in front of you, and your left arm in high protection, forearm against your forehead(osae-uke). You are in the “unrivalled position” muso-kamae.

2 – Migi chudan tate-shuto-uke:
(2A) Advance the left foot towards the right foot, bringing your right hand open towards you and starting to lower the left elbow.
(2B) Keep moving your foot forward to find yourself in a sochin-dachi rooted posture, raising your right hand under the left undersal.
(3B) Extend the right arm in front of you to perform a vertical blockage of the edge of the middle level hand (tate-shuto-uke), left fist in hikity.
 

3 – Hidari chudan-zuki/Migi chudan gyaku-zuki:
(3A) Without changing position, carry a left-level middle punch(chudan-zuki).
(3B) Tracking an inverted right middle level punch(gyaku-zuki).
 

4 – Manji-uke: Hidari gedan-barai/Migi jodan uchi-uke:
(4A) Step back with your left foot, and raise your left fist over your right shoulder, extending your right arm in front of you.
(4B) Adopt a kokutsu-dachi left rear posture, and powerfully bring the right arm back and the left arm forward. You run a high/low blockage(manji-uke):inside-outside right level high to the back(uchi-uke),and a left descending block in front of you(gedan-barai).

5 – Muso-kamae:
(5A) Advance your right foot at the same time as you lower your right arm and raise your left arm.
(5B) Adopt a sochin-dachi rooted posture, lowering the right arm and raising the left elbow in an “incomparable position,” muso-kamae.

6 – Migi chudan tate-shuto-uke:
(6A) Advance the left foot towards the right foot, bringing the right arm towards you, under the left arm, at the same time as you lower the left elbow.
(6B) Keep moving your foot forward to find yourself in a sochin-dachi rooted posture, while vertically blocking the edge of the middle right hand(tate-shuto-uke),left fist in hikity.

7 – Hidari chudan-zuki/Migi chudan gyaku-zuki:
(7A) Without changing position, carry a left-level middle punch(chudan-zuki).
(7B) Tracking an inverted right middle level punch(gyaku-zuki).

8 – Manji-uke: Hidari gedan-barai/Migi jodan uchi-uke:
(8A) Turn your head left, turn your left foot and rotate on yourself 180 degrees to the left.
(8B) Raise your left fist above the right shoulder and extend your right arm to the left.
(8C) Switch to a right back posture kokutsu-dachi, and powerfully bring the right arm back and the left arm forward. You run a high/low blockage(manji-uke):inside-outside right level high to the back(uchi-uke),and a left descending block in front of you(gedan-barai).

9 – Muso-kamae:
(9A) Advance your right foot at the same time as you lower your right arm and raise your left arm.
(9B) Adopt a sochin-dachi rooted posture, lowering the right arm and raising the left elbow in an “incomparable position,” muso-kamae.
 

10 – Migi chudan tate-shuto-uke:
Advance your left foot in the direction to find yourself in a sochin-dachi rooted posture, while vertically blocking the edge of the right hand at the middle level(tate-shuto-uke),a left fist in hikity.

11 – Hidari chudan-zuki/Migi chudan gyaku-zuki:
(11A) Without changing position, carry a left-level middle punch(chudan-zuki).
(11B) Tracking an inverted right middle level punch(gyaku-zuki).

12 – Hidari yoko-geri keage/Hidari yoko-mawashi uraken-uchi:
(12A) Leaning on the right foot, turn your head to the left, bring your left foot back to the right foot, arming both fists above the right hip.
(12B) Carry a left side whipping kick(yoko-geri keage)and simultaneously execute a circular side shot of the left backhand(yoko-mawashi uraken-uchi).

13 – Migi empi-uchi:
Advance in the direction of the kick and adopt a sochin-dachi rooted posture at the same time as you give a right frontal elbow against the left palm(empi-uchi).
 

14 – Koshi-kamae/Migi yoko-geri keage/Migi yoko-mawashi uraken-uchi:
(14A) While turning your head to the right, raise your right foot against the inside of the left knee and arm your fists above the left hip in a koshi-kamaeposture.
(14B) Carry a right side whipped kick(yoko-geri keage)and, simultaneously, execute a circular side shot of the right backhand(yoko-mawashi uraken-uchi).

15 – Hidari empi-uchi:
Advance in the direction of the kick and adopt a sochin-dachi rooted posture at the same time as you give a right frontal elbow against the right palm(empi-uchi).

16 – Migi chudan shuto-uke:
Leaning on the left foot, step back the right foot to rotate on yourself 180 degrees to the right. Switch to left rear posture kokutsu-dachi by running a blockage of the edge of the right hand middle level(shuto-uke).

17 – Hidari chudan shuto-uke:
Advance the left foot obliquely to the left and move into a right back posture kokutsu-dachi by running a blockage of the edge of the left hand middle level(shuto-uke).

18 – Hidari chudan shuto-uke:
Step back the left foot, and rotate the pelvis 135 degrees to the left to adopt a new right rear posture kokutsu-dachi by running a blockage of the edge of the left hand middle level(shuto-uke).

19 – Migi chudan shuto-uke:
Advance the right foot 45 degrees to the right and move into a left rear posture kokutsu-dachi by running a blockage of the edge of the right hand middle level(shuto-uke).

20 – Migi chudan shuto-uke:
Pivot on the left foot, slide your right foot in front of you to the right to rotate 45 degrees in that direction. Switch to left rear posture kokutsu-dachi by running a blockage of the edge of the right hand middle level(shuto-uke).

21 – Hidari chudan shuto-uke:
Advance the left foot to adopt a right back posture kokutsu-dachi by running a blockage of the edge of the left hand middle level(shuto-uke).

22 – Hidari osae-uke/Migi nukite:
Go into a straight back posture shortened kokutsu-dachi, bring the left hand back to you to execute a left pressed blockage(osae-uke) at the same time as you send the right hand in a hand to the front, palms to the sky(nukite).

23 – Hidari mae-geri:
Without changing the position of the upper half of the body, carry a left whipped frontal kick (mae-geri).

24 – Migi mae-geri/Migi nagashi-uke/Hidari uraken-uchi:
Immediately follow up with a right whipped frontal kick (mae-geri),at the same time as you make a right swept block(nagashi-uke)in front of your head and hit the back of the left fist forward (Uraken-uchi).

25 – Hidari nagashi-uke/ Migi uraken-uchi:
Rest your right foot in front of you to adopt a sochin-dachi rooted posture. Simultaneously, run a left swept block(nagashi-uke)by overtaking the left side of your head and hit the back of the right fist forward(Uraken-uchi).

26 – Migi jodan mikazuki-geri:
Leaning on the left foot, raise the right foot by sweeping the space along a circular path allowing you to rotate on yourself 180 degrees to the left. You make a crescent moon kick(mikazuki-geri)against the left palm. In doing so, raise your right fist above your head.

27 – Muso-kamae:
Rest your right foot and adopt a sochin-dachi rooted posture in an “unrivalled position” and muso-kamae.

28 – Hidari chudan uchi-ude-uke:
Advance the left foot 45 degrees to the left and adopt a sochin-dachi rooted posture at the same time as you run an inner-outside left middle level(uchi-ude-uke).

29 – Migi chudan oï-zuki:
Advance your right foot to move into a sochin-dachi rooted posture as you administer an elongated right-level middle punch(oï-zuki).

30 – Migi chudan uchi-ude-uke:
Leaning on the left foot, slide your right foot to the right to rotate 90 degrees in that direction. Adopt a sochin-dachi rooted posture at the same time as you run an inner-outdoor block right level medium(uchi-ude-uke).

31 – Hidari chudan oï-zuki:
Advance your left foot to move into a sochin-dachi rooted posture as you administer an elongated left middle-level punch(oï-zuki).

32 – Hidari chudan uchi-ude-uke:
Leaning on the right foot, slide the left foot to the left to rotate 45 degrees in this direction in sochin-dachi rooted posture at the same time as you run an inner-outside left middle level(uchi-ude-uke).

33 – Migi chudan uchi-ude-uke:
(33A) Solidly installed in sochin-dachirooted posture, send the right fist in front of you, to the left, under the left arm.
(33B) Send the right arm outwards to perform an inner-outside blockage, rotating the pelvis(uchi-ude-uke).

34 – Migi mae-geri:
Without changing the position of the arms, carry a frontal kick whipped right (mae-geri).

35 – Hidari yumi-zuki:
Rest your right foot behind you to find yourself in a rooted position, pull your right elbow back by sending your left fist forward to execute a punch from the bow. (yumi-zuki).

36 – Migi chudan gyaku-zuki/Hidari chudan-zuki:
(36A) Without changing position, execute an inverted right middle level punch (gyaku-zuki).
(36B) Immediately carry a left-level middle level punch (oï-zuki).
